Summary: Melkorka is a princess in medieval Ireland, but all that changes when she is kidnapped by Russian slave traders. In order to survive, she takes a vow of silence. She manages to survive countless injustices and brutalities, but will she ever find home again?
Response: I greatly admire the courage of Mel in this book. With everything that she has to go through, I believe that anyone would have cracked under that pressure and sunk to the level of their captors. However, it is through her silence that she manages to survive because her captors become convinced that she is some of mythical creature or enchanted.
Cautionary notes: This book contains a Rape scene, violence, and slavery
